Built for the Beach, Not a Cheap Silicone Case: Why Ours Is Different
Share
They all look similar in a photo
Search for an AirTag dog holder and you'll find dozens of near-identical-looking silicone cases at wildly different prices. Here's what actually separates them, because it isn't visible in a product photo.
What to check before buying any AirTag dog holder
- Real water rating, not just "water-resistant" — ours is rated to 1m/30min submersion, which matters if your dog actually swims, not just gets rained on. "Water-resistant" on a cheap listing often means splash-proof only.
- Seal quality around the AirTag itself — gaps let grit and salt in over time, which is what actually degrades a cheap holder, not the silicone itself
- Clip strength under motion — a dog running, swimming and shaking off water puts real stress on the clip. A loose clip is how owners lose the AirTag itself, not just the holder.
- Collar fit range — ours fits 15-25mm collars specifically; generic listings often list a single "one size" that doesn't sit securely on most Australian dog collars
Why we built it around Australian conditions specifically
This started from a real problem — dogs slipping leads and heading straight into the water near Freshwater on Sydney's Northern Beaches. A holder that only survives light rain wasn't good enough for that. Everything about the build — the seal, the clip, the water rating — was chosen for dogs that actually swim, not just walk around the block.

FAQ
What does the 1m/30min water rating actually mean?
It means the holder is tested to withstand full submersion at 1 metre depth for up to 30 minutes — covering swimming, not just splashes or rain.
Will a cheaper holder work fine for a dog that doesn't swim?
Possibly, but even non-swimming dogs get rained on, roll in wet grass, or drink from puddles right near the collar — a genuine water seal still matters more than most owners expect.
How do I know my dog's collar width before ordering?
Measure the flat width of the collar itself (not the neck) — our holder fits 15-25mm, which covers most standard small to large breed collars.
