Our Story

My name is William, and I've grown up on the beaches of Sydney's Northern Beaches — salt in the air, sand between my toes, and my dog Indie always right beside me.

Indie is a force of nature. She's the kind of dog who sprints into the surf before you've even taken your shoes off, who finds every puddle, every muddy trail, every wave worth chasing. She's been my adventure partner since day one — and she's the reason PawFetchers exists.

The Day That Changed Everything

It was a regular Sunday morning at Freshwater Beach. The kind of morning where the sun is just starting to warm the sand and the waves are rolling in perfectly. I had Indie off-lead in the off-leash area, throwing her ball, watching her tear across the beach the way she always does — full speed, ears back, pure joy.

Then I looked away for a moment. Just a moment.

When I turned back, she was gone.

I called her name. Nothing. I scanned the beach — the water, the dunes, the car park. My heart was hammering. I started jogging, then running, calling her name louder and louder. Other beachgoers started looking around too. A few minutes passed — and I want to tell you they were just a few minutes, but they felt like hours. That sick, hollow feeling in your chest when you don't know where your dog is — it's unlike anything else.

I found her eventually. She'd bolted through a gap in the fence and was happily sniffing around the car park, completely unbothered, tail wagging like nothing had happened. I dropped to my knees and hugged her so hard she squirmed.

Why I Built PawFetchers
