Spring is escape season. Longer days mean more time outdoors, more open gates and more chances for a dog to bolt after something exciting.

Three quick checks this month:

• Microchip details: make sure your phone number and address are current on your state's pet registry.
• Collar and ID tag: check the collar still fits (two fingers underneath) and the tag is readable.
• AirTag: open Find My, check the battery, and make sure the holder's seal is closed.

A collar-mounted AirTag won't stop your dog running — but it can turn a long search into a short one.
